We are proud to share that the graduation film Bhamakalapam, directed and written by Likhitha Krishna and created by students of Annapurna College of Film and Media, has been officially selected for the 6th Annual Indic Film Utsav 2025, to be held in Dallas, Texas, USA. 💐✨
Bhamakalapam is a heartfelt coming-of-age story that celebrates courage, tradition, and the power of reclaiming forgotten voices. The film follows Bhumi, a spirited young girl from a village who, inspired by the bravery of Satyabhama from myth, decides to tell her story through the ancient art of puppetry. Despite resistance from her community, Bhumi’s passion for storytelling and the guidance of Leela, a mysterious performer, lead to a powerful performance that reawakens forgotten legacies and empowers young voices.

The Indic Film Utsav (IFU)—presented by the Center for Indic Films (formerly Indica Pictures)—is a prestigious annual festival that celebrates positive, thought-provoking, and culturally rooted cinema. The 6th Annual Edition (7–9 November 2025) marks its return to Dallas, Texas, with an entirely in-person showcase of films from across India and the global Indic diaspora.
The festival provides a vibrant platform for independent filmmakers whose stories explore heritage, identity, and human connection, emphasizing the timeless values of Indic culture. With categories spanning short films, documentaries, and features, IFU continues to build a global bridge for storytellers who celebrate creativity and consciousness through cinema.
